- In a large bowl, add yogurt, turmeric, paprika, ginger, pepper & beef. Mix until beef is thoroughly coated in yogurt & spices. Set aside to marinate 5-10 minutes.
- In a large stockpot, heat 3 Tbsp oil over medium-high. Add onions & potatoes. Cook 8-10 minutes, or until potatoes softened & onions are caramelized, stirring often. Remove & set aside.
- In the same pot, heat remaining oil over medium-high. Add beef in a single layer & cook 4-5 minutes on each side, until browned. Cook in batches if needed, do not overcrowd the pot. Remove & set aside.
- To the same pot, add garlic, serrano pepper & garam marsala seasoning. Cook 2-3 minutes stirring frequently until fragrant. Return beef, onions & potatoes. Add water & rice. Mix to combine.
- Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover & cook 10-15 minutes, or until all liquid is absorbed & beef is cooked through.
- Serve topped with sliced serrano peppers.
